I remember the day when I realized that my own health was my own responsibility. 18 years ago, during a short 4 month period, I packed on 30 lbs, and have since tried EVERY program to get the weight off. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, The Zone, Atkins, spinning, running, hot yoga, hot pilates, weight training, Keto, Ayurveda, The Master Cleanse, and finally, Noom.
Sound exhausting? Sound crazy? Sound familiar?
At the end of the day, there was one striking similarity between all of these health and wellness programs and systems. That one common denominator– was me!
I had to be the one to change. I had to embrace the concept that health and wellness is more than just diet and exercise. Those may be the foundations, but how you manage your thoughts, how you FEEL about yourself, and all the things you “do” in life, are really what comprise total health.
To be honest, I still haven’t lost the full 30 lbs. But at this very moment, I glad to say I am the healthiest I’ve ever been. Can I run a 5k without stopping? No. Can I fit into a size 8? Also no. But I stay active, meditate daily, and am absolutely not afraid to try something new. These last 20+ years, I’ve learned to embrace what it means to be the best version of me- while accepting the worst parts of me.
